FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The short answers most people want before trying or buying mAIsk.

Does mAIsk send any data to the internet?

No. The masking and restoration workflow is local-first. The core product promise is that the sensitive values are handled on your machine before anything reaches the AI.

Does it work with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and similar tools?

Yes. mAIsk is tool-agnostic because it sits before the AI prompt and after the AI response. If you can paste text into it, mAIsk can fit the workflow.

Is there one executable or separate Community and Pro builds?

One executable. Community is the default mode. Pro is unlocked with an activation key after purchase.

What is the Community limitation?

Community allows up to 10 placeholders per operation. This is meant for evaluation and light usage. Pro removes that limit and unlocks additional workflow features.

What does Pro include?

Unlimited masking and restoration, dummy data substitution, session persistence, custom categories, and priority fixes and updates.

Is the software open source?

No. mAIsk is distributed as a closed-source desktop application. The positioning is local-first privacy with transparent documentation and a predictable workflow, not source disclosure.

Can the AI still infer things from context?

Yes, potentially. mAIsk reduces direct leakage risk by masking sensitive values, but contextual inference is still possible if too much meaning remains obvious in the prompt.

How do updates work?

You can notify Pro customers through Lemon Squeezy and optionally provide an in-app version check that opens the download page in the browser rather than silently updating anything.

Can I use it in legal, healthcare, accounting or school administration?

That is exactly the intended type of environment: places where staff want AI help but should not be pasting real confidential data directly into prompts.
